About us
The Group for Thin Film Physics has been
formed in 1964 year by Prof. N.T.Gladkikh. Currently
the Group work in the framework and with the support
of the School of Physics
and School of Physics and Technology
of the V.N. Karazin Kharkiv National University. The
Group is aimed to increase the fundamental understanding
of influence of the size on the properties of thin film
and small particles. We carry out basic research for
exploring the relationship between growth conditions,
size, structure and physical properties of thin films
and alloys. Films are usually prepared by PVD methods
and studied by means of standard (TEM, SEM. EDX, STM, X-ray) techniques
and newly developed ones.
Since the science moves towards the nano we also promote cooperation
between researchers from various fields of science the
electron microscopy methods are used in and
organize the efficient operation of high-cost equipment.
The Laboratory takes an active part in high-level education and training of students and
post-graduates, and helps researches from other divisions of the university to conduct
the electron microscopy studies. Staff of the
Laboratiory are highly qualified researches
and engineers with major experience in
the field of nanophysics and application of electron
microscopy methods therein.
